Reaching Out to Hiring Managers Doesn’t Have to be Complicated

Most job seekers don’t know how to reach out to hiring managers.

🤯 I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve seen someone reach out…
– With just a connection request, no message
– With just a comment on a post to the effect of “I’m interested”
– With a message that looks more like bot than a genuine person

And, I’ve also seen countless people with full-blown, multi-step “systems” on how to create the perfect reach out to a hiring manager.

📜 But really, it’d save you SO much time and money to keep it simple at 3 sentences:
1. Hi, <their name>.
2. I’m a <context of your profession> who’s <1 or 2 achievements relevant to the role>.
3. If you’re open to a quick chat, I’d like to learn more about <the role you’re interested in.>

For example:

“Hey John. I’m a product manager coming from the PropTech space who’s generated over $50M in net new revenue in B2B and B2C SaaS while reducing operational costs by 20%. If you’re open to a quick chat, I’d like to learn more about the Principal PM role you’re hiring for.”

Of course, if you happen to have their email, you can include a little bit more. But no matter what, ensure it is clear, and concise, on who you are and what your value proposition is. Keep it short; don’t make your first message to them an auto-biography! Focus on the who and why for now and hook their attention. There’ll be time to dive into the how later.
