At the end of the day, people don’t care how you solved their problems, just that you solved them at all.
As we move on to the next generation of problems (some we weren’t able to touch before, others we didn’t know existed), both businesses and professionals alike would do themselves a service to remember those words.
Now, it’s not that the how isn’t important. Instead, the point that I’m making is that the value you deliver is the deciding factor of success. And, value is rooted in the why BEHIND the how.
What does that mean for us though?
If you’re a product manager, it’s the answer to the build vs. buy question.
If you’re an engineer, it’s an invitation to appreciate there’s always more than one valid way to develop a solution.
If you’re a designer, it’s a reminder that your UX doesn’t need to be perfect to be usable.
Don’t be so caught up in the “how” behind your solutions. Reframe yourself and get caught up in whether or not you’re delivering the value your stakeholders need, both customers and your teammates.
