What value do you bring?

Your resume is not a list of your accomplishments. Your resume is a sales page.

Think about when you’re off to buy a smartphone. What do you think the first things you’ll see are on the Samsung Galaxy’s landing page? Or the Apple iPhone’s landing page?

It’s not a list of their tech specs. That’s further down the page; not the first thing you’ll see.

It’s their value proposition. It’s why this product should matter to you.

Why? Because it works. Because people don’t really make decisions based on how they think. Because people actually make decisions based on how they feel.

If you want recruiters and hiring managers to invest time and money into you, your resume needs to spend more time upfront showing off your value proposition instead of coming out guns blazing with a list of your tech specs.
